WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — Nino Niederreiter scored twice in his 900th career NHL game and Connor Hellebuyck made 21 saves to help the Winnipeg Jets beat Utah Hockey Club 3-0 on Tuesday night.

It was Hellebuyck’s second shutout of the season and 39th of his career.

Gabriel Vilardi also scored for the Jets. Adam Lowry assisted Niederreiter on both goals.

Utah ended its streak of winning points in three straight games (1-0-2).

Karel Wejmelka stopped 25 shots for Utah in the second stop of a four-game road trip.

Jets winger Kyle Connor ended his season-opening point streak at 12 games.

Takeaway

Utah: The visitors had three power plays, but didn’t have a shot on goal on the first and forced Hellebuyck to make just one stop in each of the next two. The Jets blocked 17 shots compared to Utah’s five.

Jets: Winnipeg had opportunities to get shots on goal but got derailed early in their search for the perfect formation until Josh Morrissey fired a shot from the point with Vilardi in front of the net.

Key Point

Niederreiter picked up Utah’s stick in the Winnipeg penalty area, allowing the Jets to grab the puck and head toward the visiting goal. He then joined the attack, took a shot and sent the puck around Weimelka.

Key Statistics

The Jets went 1 for 2 on the power play, giving them a power play goal in six straight games. They entered the NHL gaming leaders with a player advantage (44.1%).
