Bill O’Reilly slams Fox News for cliché election coverage

Bill O’Reilly he said Tuesday night on his former network Fox News while covering the election for NewsNation.

During a conversation with the presenter Chris CuomoO’Reilly was about to weigh in on the Fox News correspondent. Karl Rove when he decided to take a break from a cliché he heard online.

“Karl Rove is on Fox News—and by the way, that’s the message for Fox News,” he said. O’Reilly said. “Please don’t let your commentators and hosts say the words ‘canary in the coal mine.’ There are no canaries on the ballot. You can’t vote in a coal mine. I don’t know why they say this over and over again, but they are Fox News. Please stop.”

A search of the TV broadcast database shows three mentions of the word “canary” or “canaries” on Fox News Channel on Tuesday. The cliche is hardly unique to Fox, however, as the phrase has been repeated numerous times on both CNN and MSNBC in recent days. In fact, the NewsNation anchor said “canary in the coal mine” less than 30 minutes before O’Reilly complained about it being said on Fox News.

O’Reilly finished his speech on Rove’s analysis of New Hampshire, after which Cuomo defended Fox News.

“But look, you know what they do,” Cuomo said. “You can argue with their style, but this race is close and people are looking for signs of the outcome, and they are looking at New Hampshire as a kind of laboratory, and if Trump can get close there, then who knows where else it will happen.” close?
