Delhi man shares touching story of a stranger struggling to return his mother’s lost phone: ‘Kindness lives on’ | Trends

In a world that is often filled with mistrust, sometimes one act of kindness can restore faith in humanity. A touching story happened recently. Delhiwhere a stranger went out of his way to return a woman’s lost phone, which her daughter accidentally dropped in a busy shopping center parking lot. The story, which was shared by a Reddit user, has since warmed the hearts of many netizens.

Reddit user u/tedlassoo0 said that he, his mother and other family members were enjoying a movie night at V3S Mall in Nirman Vihar. His sister, who had their mother’s phone, accidentally dropped it in the parking lot while they were settling into the theater. It was only when they sat down and got ready to watch a movie that she realized that the phone was missing. “We were all settled in the theater, ready to watch a movie, and suddenly my sister casually mentioned, ‘Oh, I can’t find my mom’s phone,’” he recalls.

Unexpected call: a stranger’s promise to return the phone

The family quickly sprang into action in an attempt to retrieve the missing device. To their surprise, the stranger answered. They were skeptical at first, but feared they would never see the phone again. However, the stranger assured them that he would return it. The good Samaritan was found to be working at Crossriver Mall in Karkardoom and asked to meet him there to pick him up. The family, relieved but cautious, immediately left the theater and headed to the new location.

In their rush to get there, the narrator and his cousin “even jumped a red light” to retrieve their lost phone. Upon arriving at the Crossriver Mall, they made their way through the noisy crowd and headed to the main entrance, where a stranger, a carnival worker who had set up a small attraction, was waiting with a phone.

Gratitude and a lesson in honesty

After being reunited over the phone, the family offered to buy the man and his brother food as a sign of gratitude, but he refused, accepting only a small amount of cash instead. “Very grateful to him. I mean, it’s rare to find such honest people these days,” the Reddit user expressed, also thanking the theater security guard who allowed them to return to finish the film.
