With the addition of two new CRJ 900 aircraft to Ibom Air’s fleet, Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong, said Governor Umo Ino’s commitment to ensuring sustainable growth in the aviation sector is beyond doubt. Reflecting on the developments over the weekend, Ememobong said Eno’s sustained investment in Ibom Air “is part of a larger investment in aviation to make our state an aviation hub.” Last Friday, Eno received two new Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft for the state-owned airline with assurances that his administration will accelerate efforts to achieve optimal returns on investments of public funds and assets within and outside the state. The Governor, who received the two aircraft marked 5N-CED and 5N-CEE, which landed at the Victor Atta International Airport, Uyo, at 2:59 pm and 3:06 pm respectively, confirmed that the acquisition was fully financed by the state government without any loans or funds from any financial institution. This, he said, is in line with his administration’s determination to break the vicious cycle of state government investments that exist only to pay off debts to financial institutions. , adding that his administration would prefer to explore businesses that would provide a return on investment to the government. The House Committee on Finance has lauded the level of progress and achievements of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), vowing not to withhold any support needed by the agency.
