Dry weather returns from today through Friday.

Dry weather returns from today through Friday.

Tuesday’s rain in the Twin Cities averaged 0.25 to 0.40 inches, which may not have made for a pleasant day outside, but did help restore the soil after the dry conditions of September and October. The next widespread precipitation will occur in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas from Saturday evening through Sunday morning.

The Twin Cities, especially areas from Minneapolis, are experiencing patchy dense fog moving west toward the South Dakota border this morning. DENSE FOG ADVISORY UNTIL 10 a.m. for the Twin Cities, Anoka, Hennepin, Carver and Scott counties, and all counties west of the South Dakota border. The rest of the day today is expected to be a mix of clouds and sunshine with highs near 50 degrees and west winds of 5 to 10 mph. Partly cloudy with some fog and light winds tonight with lows in the 30s.

Thursday will start with some fog, otherwise mostly sunny with temperatures near 50 degrees and west winds between 5 and 15 mph. Clear skies Thursday night with southwest winds 5 to 10 mph and lows in the 30s by Friday morning.

Friday will be nice with sunny skies, highs near 50 degrees, south wind 5 to 10 mph, then partly cloudy Friday night with lows near 40 degrees by Saturday morning.

Saturday will start out sunny before increasing clouds in the afternoon with windy conditions and rain beginning after 6:00 p.m. Highs on Saturday will be in the mid 50s and lows in the 40s by Sunday morning with a chance of rain.

Rain is likely Sunday morning and will eventually end around midday when skies clear and temperatures drop into the 50s.

Monday (Veterans Day, Nov. 11) will be partly cloudy and windy, with a high near 50 degrees. Looking further ahead, the next widespread rain will begin on Wednesday, November 13th. JONATHAN JUHAS
