This phone is the best choice for selfie takers thanks to the addition of ring light.

Back to IFA 2024HMD made a splash with the introduction of Fusion, a smartphone that can be personalized with interchangeable smart outfits. Note that this is not just for beauty. They actually add functionality, bringing back the spirit of the old days of Motorola Moto Mods.

And now, in just a couple of months, the first of these outfits, dubbed Flashy, will finally hit the shelves. It’s essentially a ring light that works on both the front and back of the phone. Whether you’re a content creator or just unabashedly obsessed with the perfect selfie, your name is all over the place.

Flashy is a smart outfit that integrates a dual ring light directly into your phone. It works both front and back, so you can set it up no matter what camera you’re using. This isn’t some bulky case with batteries and clunky buttons. Flashy connects directly to the Fusion HMD via Smart Pins, which provide power and seamlessly connect it to your phone’s camera app. You can change the lighting temperature and even save your preferred settings for quick access.

Fusion itself is something of a statement. HMD designed it to be more than just another slab of glass and metal, with a focus on sustainability and customization. Its “internal chassis” design is minimalistic yet durable, with a stainless steel backplate, screws for easy repairs, and an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance. Inside, it has decent kit for an entry-level device: a 6.56-inch display with 720p resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate.

Powered by a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, the Fusion can handle your social media, streaming, and casual gaming without much trouble. Add to that a 108MP main camera, a 50MP front-facing camera, and a massive 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging, and the Fusion is a great budget device.

Here HMD did not skimp on environmental friendliness. The materials Flashy is made from are recycled, so you can feel a little better about taking extra selfies. It’s also particularly interesting how HMD has embraced modularity and maintainability, a philosophy borrowed from Skyline. I’m sure this additional ring light will be especially popular.

In terms of availability, the Flashy Ring Light expansion will be available later this year. Exact prices haven’t been announced yet, but we don’t expect them to be crazy. The phone itself retails for £230.so we think Flashy will also be quite affordable.
