Relax in Singapore Airlines’ refurbished lounges.

WIf you’re planning a trip to far-flung destinations such as Southeast Asia or Australasia, it makes sense to choose an airline with one of the highest levels of comfort in the skies. Let’s take Singapore Airlines then, The most garlanded airline in the worldwhich has won awards for everything from its flight attendants to its frequent flyer program to in-flight entertainment, as well as simply being the best airline.

It also regularly receives high marks for its lounges, ranking third best first class lounge in the world for KrisFlyer Gold on Changi Airport in Singapore in 2024 and winning Asia’s Best Airline Lounge for the SilverKris Business Class Lounge in 2023.

And who doesn’t love that feeling of leaving the bustling main hall of the airport and taking the elevator to a quiet haven from the crowds below? For some, the vacation begins in the living room, and for those traveling on business, it’s the perfect place to get some last-minute work done. Either way, an airport lounge can be a haven where comfortable seating allows you to relax or even catch up, and where you’ll be served delicious food and drinks to start your trip off right.

If you’re flying with Singapore Airlines from London Heathrow Airport, you’ll be happy to know that the SilverKris lounge in Terminal 2 has just reopened with some stunning refurbished facilities. Comprising an exclusive First Class lounge and a separate Business Class lounge, it is designed to feel like a home away from home.

It all starts with the First Class Lounge, which can accommodate up to 50 guests but offers a truly spacious feel. This is because there are only a handful of First Class flights departing from Terminal 2, allowing eligible passengers to fully relax and enjoy a sophisticated experience before embarking on their journey.

Sit at a restaurant table by the window where you can watch the airport action, work, or enjoy some of the mouth-watering dishes on offer. You can choose from the à la carte menu, which features a selection of signature hot dishes such as Singapore laksa or Hainanese chicken rice, or browse the buffet, which features a variety of freshly prepared dishes such as dim sum daily.

Business for pleasure

The Business Class lounge is also an ideal place to hang out before your flight; there’s now a revamped cocktail bar that can accommodate up to 10 people at a time, and where the bartender can whip up anything from a classic Singapore sling to a Japanese whiskey highball to get you in the mood for your trip. There is also a buffet with an extensive selection of Western and Asian dishes to whet your appetite for even more on board. Overall, the new, renovated Terminal 2 lounge has 16 percent more seating and can accommodate up to 242 passengers.

Those who can’t put the laptop away completely just yet will also find plenty of charging points for electronic devices, including new USB-C and USB-A outlets, as well as free Wi-Fi. If you’re keeping up with the news, there are several 75-inch widescreen TVs showing live TV, and if you want to freshen up, there are four showers in the business class lounge and two showers in the first class lounge.
