Gerwyn Price confirms decision to retire from darts in honest statement on social media

Gerwyn Price has put an end to speculation about his future as a darts player after a difficult few years in the sport.

Gerwyn Price admits he’s not ready to retire darts after spending time with his family.

Price, 39, has endured a difficult season, finishing second in the rankings. Premier Leagueand exited the PDC World Darts Championship early. This has left the Welshman facing questions about his future in the sport, especially after failing to qualify for the Grand Slam of Darts – a title he won three times in four years between 2018 and 2021.


While spending time with his family, Price reflected on his career and shared his feelings. Instagramaddressing retirement rumors head on. He posted a story to his 305,000 followers that left no doubt about his intentions.

Price wrote: “When the last 10 years have been constant travelling, darts and family holidays, you lose touch with everything else going on around you without even realizing it. Now there is no darts; it’s like trying to fill a void.”


“I finally realized that my life is darts; Without him I don’t know what to do with myself. Fortunately or unfortunately for some, you are all stuck with me.”

Price’s recent struggles, highlighted by his failure to reach the final of any televised tournament over the past year, have impacted his automatic qualification for the Grand Slam of Darts. He failed to make it past the preliminary tournament earlier this month, losing to Mickey Mansell, who earned his place after defeating Price and Raymond van Barneveld.

This will be the first year since 2015 that the Welshman will not take part in the tournament. This comes after he lost in the second round after beating Gary Anderson last year.
