Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold is ‘top target’ to replace Carvajal at Real Madrid

Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold tops Real Madrid’s list of transfer targets to replace injured Dani Carvajal, reports Brand.

The Spain international suffered a serious knee injury in the final moments of Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Villarreal in early October, underwent surgery and spent a long period on the sidelines.

Lucas Vazquez has acted as deputy in the 32-year-old’s absence, but according to the Spanish outlet his performances have been unimpressive, meaning they are prioritizing the signing of a new right-back.

Alexander-Arnold is out of contract at the end of the season and could leave if no progress is made in talks to extend his contract at Anfield.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu in recent months, with rumors of him leaving his boyhood club on a free transfer intensifying as time has passed.

Liverpool find themselves in a difficult position with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk also having contracts expiring at the end of the current campaign, a situation that has left Reds fans very nervous.

Reporting by Marca (via Transfer news live) the suggestion that Alexander-Arnold is now their top target will only add fuel to the fire as the West Derby man bids farewell next June and heads off to a new adventure in Spain.
