Grandma’s Marathon Sold Out in Record Time for 2025 – Duluth News Tribune

DULUTH — The 2025 Grandma’s Marathon is sold out.

The full marathon drew 9,000 runners in record time, breaking the previous record for fastest sellout in the event’s 49-year history. This was in 2016, when the last place was filled on New Year’s Eve. Tickets for the 2024 Grandma’s Marathon sold out on January 5th.

“It’s humbling,” said Zach Schneider, director of marketing and public relations for Grandma’s Marathon. “It speaks volumes about the work, care and passion that our entire community puts into our race weekends.”

Registration for the 2025 Grandma’s Marathon, scheduled for June 20-21, opened on October 1 when the Harry Bjorklund Half Marathon sold out of its 8,000 entries in less than 18 hours. The William A. Irwin reached its capacity of 2,500 people in less than 36 hours. This was also a record.

All entries for the Great Grandma’s Challenge – 500 full and 700 half – are also sold out.

“Registration is largely based on past performance,” Schneider said. “This community has created something that people want to be a part of and expect a positive experience, and we should all be proud of that.

“Now the focus shifts in earnest and the hard work begins as we certainly want to meet and hopefully exceed those expectations in June.”

There are three ways to still participate in the 2025 race.

Sometimes this caption is used when a news story has multiple authors or when a story is formed by combining previously published news from various sources.
