None of the race results changed; Voter accounts are now updated in the Secretary of State’s office

A technical issue that occurred while loading general election results in Mower County late Tuesday resulted in some incorrect totals, although the issue has since been corrected and does not change any race results related to winners and losers.

According to a statement on Mower County’s website, after the final ballots were counted Tuesday night, the elections office began experiencing problems due to hardware and software issues being uploaded to the Minnesota Secretary of State’s office.

“Mower County experienced a hardware and software issue while loading unofficial general election results on Tuesday evening, November 5th,” the state said in a news release. “When loading the data, some voting results were indicated incorrectly. However, as part of our regular process of reviewing and validating unofficial results, we have identified and corrected technical loading errors. All ballots were accurately counted and the unofficial results are consistent with the precinct aggregates.”

The numbers on the Secretary of State’s website should account for any differences and reflect actual counts.
