Elden Ring unlocked, 60fps on PS5 Pro

Although this is one of From softwaremost favorite video games, Elden Ring was not the most productive game. This is to be expected, since the developer created a truly huge open world, which was sure to have some technical glitches. However, with the disclosure Game Boost feature on PS5 Proseems to have been opportunity despite the fact that the game runs at 60 frames per second. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

PS5 Pro is still the best place to play Elden Ring, despite some performance issues

In a new video analysis, Digital Foundry tech experts have discovered that Elden Ring is unable to maintain a locked 60fps on PS5 Pro in the Graphics Quality, Ray Tracing, or Performance settings. However, this does not mean a bad experience. The PS5 Pro is still the best console for playing From Software’s award-winning title, despite minor performance hiccups.

Elden Ring quality mode targets native 4K resolution. On PS5 Pro, most of the game does hit 60fps, but it’s inconsistent. The game seems to stay in the 50s and in some cases it dips into the 40s. Since VRR support doesn’t work below 48 frame rates, this is a minor issue. However, since the game appears to run mostly at 50 to 60 frames per second, players with a compatible display can expect an overall smooth gameplay experience.

In performance mode, Elden Ring was expected to be able to maintain a locked frame rate of 60 frames per second. The mode targets 60 frames per second through the use of dynamic resolution scaling (DRS) with a resolution range from 1512p to native 4K. However, despite less stressful conditions, he does not achieve this goal. This could be due to DRS issues with the game running on PS5 Pro or CPU limitations.

The least striking of all is Elden Rings’ ray tracing mode. It seems that even if the PS5 Pro could harness the full power of its upgraded GPU, it would still struggle to maintain a locked 60 frames per second. It was also discovered that, unlike PC, the PS5 Pro does not use any additional ray tracing features thanks to the new and improved GPU.

While the improvements may not be as impressive as the PS5 Pro’s proprietary enhanced upgrades, game acceleration can help improve performance in almost any game played on the new console. Even backwards compatible PS4 games should see improvements.
