Coming soon: Military Appreciation Days

Coming soon: Military Appreciation Days

In anticipation of Veterans Day, the Downtown Great Falls Association is kicking off “Military Appreciation Days” this week to show support and appreciation for the military community here in Great Falls.

For over a decade, the Downtown Chicks, in partnership with the Downtown Association, have been doing this to recognize the large military presence.

“We have Malmstrom and it’s great, we have the Guard, a lot of different community members who may have been in Malmstrom or the Guard many years ago and then retired to Great Falls and we want to get them involved.” all the fun things we do,” explained Harley Severns, marketing and events coordinator for the Downtown Association.

This is an opportunity for the Downtown Association and various downtown businesses to show their appreciation to the military community by offering exclusive special offers and discounts.

“This time in November, it’s around Veterans Day, so it’s basically just a tribute to veterans, retirees, their dependents, because a lot of dependents, you know, aren’t always included in military discounts,” Severns said . “It’s a great way to bring these families downtown and help them become part of the community and have a place downtown because sometimes the distance between the base and the downtown areas isn’t always connected enough, so it’s a way for us to kind of bridge that gap.”

TREND

More than 20 businesses are participating and will have a poster on their door or window letting them know they have special offers.

Transactions are designed for active or retired military personnel and their dependents who present their military ID at the enterprise.

“There are thousands of people on base, and if we want downtown to be revitalized and able to grow as a community, we have to get everyone involved,” Severns said. “It’s important that they know they are welcome; they know they can come downtown and enjoy what we have here, even if they’re not from Great Falls.”

Military Appreciation Days begins Thursday the 7th and runs through Monday, November 11th (Veterans Day).
