Juan Soto Rumors: Red Sox One of Seven Teams to Sign Up (Report)

The Red Sox are one of seven teams that have already “drafted up” free agent Juan Soto, according to the Red Sox. Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

Soto, represented by super agent Scott Boras, is the top free agent on the market and “could command approximately $700 million,” according to Heyman.

He just turned 26 and posted a .989 OPS in 2024 with 41 homers, 31 doubles, four triples and 7.9 bWAR.

Heyman named the Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Blue Jays, Giants and Rays (a surprise team) among the seven who called about him.

Heyman wrote: “The word is that they (the Red Sox) are slowly laying the groundwork to start spending money and competing again after completely laying low for years.”
