Two high-ranking positions in the Ministry of Finance have been added to Prabowo – Regulations

Resident Prabowo Subianto has added two new directorates-general to the Ministry of Finance: the Directorate-General for Economic and Fiscal Strategy and the Directorate-General for Financial Sector Stability and Development.

The President will need to appoint new heads of general directorates on the recommendations of the Minister of Finance, as provided for in Presidential Decree (Perpres) No. 158/2024, published on Tuesday.

The decree will also merge the Fiscal Policy Agency (BKF) and the General Directorate of Economic and Fiscal Strategy, Finance Ministry spokesman Denis Surjantoro said in a statement on Thursday.

Previously, the BKF was responsible for developing policy on subsidies, a deferred carbon tax, a planned excise tax on sweetened drinks and a range of other financial incentives.

“The General Directorate of Economic and Fiscal Strategy is responsible for organizing the development and implementation of the economic and fiscal strategy in accordance with the law,” according to Article 13 of the recently adopted regulation.

The ministry also plans to create an Agency for Financial Technologies, Information and Intelligence.
