An 18-year-old Pittston man leads police on a high-speed chase.

KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — A man is in custody after leading police on a chase in a stolen car.

According to the Kingston Metropolitan Police Department, on October 25 around 3:55 p.m., officers saw a black SUV drive by at a high rate of speed.

Officers say they initiated a traffic stop at Market Street and South River Street in Wilkes-Barre.

Police say the driver, James Michael Nardone, 18, of Pittston, failed to stop, causing him to run multiple red lights.

The affidavit explains that Nardone continued down South Main Street, then back down South River Street and then onto Blackman Street, leading pursuing officers at a high speed of 85 mph.

When police checked the vehicle’s license plates, the car was returned stolen on the morning of October 25th.

Nardone was charged with careless driving, careless driving, fleeing or attempting to elude police officers, and several other related charges.
