Here’s what’s closed, open and free on Veterans Day.

As a show of gratitude to veterans and active members of the U.S. military, dozens of restaurants are offering free meals for Veterans Day. Check out our list of different offers below. Drinks and gratuities are not included unless otherwise noted. Most offers are valid on Monday only.

Many restaurants not listed below may have previously offered free meals to veterans. Some of these restaurants still offer discounts to current and former military personnel.

Offers are available at participating locations for dine-in only unless otherwise noted and most require proof of service.

Appleby: Veterans and active military personnel can get a free meal from Applebee’s special menu. Items include the Bacon Cheeseburger and Key Lime Chicken Fiesta. Since 2008, Applebee’s has provided 11.7 million free meals on Veterans Day.

BIBIBOP Asian Grill: All BIBIBOP Asian Grill restaurants provide veterans and active military personnel with a free bowl with ID. Offer valid for dinner only.

Biggby Coffee: Veterans and active military personnel with military ID can receive a free 16 oz. latte, hot/iced/iced drink on Monday.

Bob Evans: With proof of service, veterans and active military personnel can receive a free breakfast at the restaurant, including a breakfast with country cookies or a stack of hot pies.

Buffalo Wild Wings: Veterans and active military can receive a free order of boneless wings and fries with proof of military service for dine-in service. Customers at Buffalo Wild Wings GO locations can order at the counter with proof of service.

California Pizza Cuisine: With proof of service, veterans and active military personnel can choose from a limited menu.

Chile: With proof of service, veterans and active military personnel can enjoy a free lunch menu featuring a four-course entree menu, including a Chicken Ranch Quesadilla and a Cheese Old Timer. Offer valid for dinner only.

Dave and Buster: Current and former military members can choose up to $20 worth of free admission and receive a $10 Power Card on Monday.

Denny: With a valid military ID, customers can receive a free Grand Slam breakfast from Denny’s from 5 a.m. to noon Friday.

Dunkin: With a valid military ID, customers can receive a free donut with their personal order.

Golden Corral: The buffet chain is offering active duty and active duty military and reservists a free meal at the pantry from 4 p.m. until closing Monday.

Horns: Throughout Monday, veterans and active military members can choose from five entrees, including Hooters Boneless Wings.

IHOP: From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, veterans and active military personnel can get a free combination of red, white and blueberry pancakes.

Little Caesars: The pizzeria will be offering a four-slice Hot-N-Ready lunch and a 20-ounce drink free to veterans and active military from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday.

Barbecue Mission: Veterans and active military personnel can get a free sandwich all day Monday.

Olive Garden: Former and current military members can choose from several items from Olive Garden’s Veterans Day menu.

Steakhouse in the outback: Outback Steakhouse will offer free Bloomin’ Onions and drinks on Monday with a valid military ID.

Red Robin: This burger joint is offering veterans and active military personnel a free double Red’s Tavern burger and bottomless fries all day Monday. It’s only dinner.

Starbucks: Veterans, active military personnel and military spouses can get free 12-ounce coffee all day on Monday.

What’s open and closed on Monday?

While many government buildings will be closed, many will remain open.

What’s open

  • Almost all major retailers
  • Main government institutions

What’s closed

  • Secondary federal institutions, courthouses
  • US post offices
  • Most banks
  • Stock markets

Important government agencies, such as the National Weather Service, will remain open. Examples of non-essential offices closed Monday include the Social Security Administration and the Internal Revenue Service.
Some schools, universities, local and state offices may close.
