Police are searching for 40 monkeys that escaped from a South Carolina prison.

Now is not the time for self-indulgence.

There are monkeys on the loose, after all. At least they are in Yemassee, South Carolina, after 40 primates escaped from a research facility on November 6, local police have confirmed.

“There are traps everywhere.” statement published on Facebook Read: “And the Yemassee Police Department is currently on the scene using thermal imaging cameras in an attempt to locate the animals.”

In addition to warning residents not to approach animals and instead ask to call 911, police added, “Residents are strongly encouraged to keep doors and windows closed to prevent these animals from entering homes.”

Police confirmed the animals escaped from Alpha Genesis Incorporated, a research center that, according to its website, “provides the highest quality primate products and bioresearch services worldwide.”

The agency has not confirmed what breed of monkey is on the loose, but Alpha Genesis’ website notes that it works with macaques and capuchins. It also has not been confirmed whether the escaped monkeys were exposed to any diseases, and the company did not immediately respond to NBC News’ request for comment.
