“What can I do to avoid investigating him?”

“What can I do to avoid investigating him?”

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) made it clear in an interview Wednesday that it will be difficult to work alongside President-elect Trump, saying he has “no moral compass.”

“This is a person who has no moral compass. … Are you suggesting that I somehow not see all this, not understand it? This is impossible. He is who he is and he will continue to be who he is.” Waters told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo.

“He said that he would receive retribution from those who did not work with him, who did not like him. He wants to get people like me. … What should I do? Conversation about: “I love Trump, I want to work with him”? I don’t think he’s someone you could ever work with.”

Trump, who won a decisive victory in 2024 presidential elections Tuesday has arrived under close scrutiny for him vows to follow critics and perceived “enemies”. A former president who faced many legal battles also denounced last year that he was being unfairly targeted by the Biden administration’s Justice Department and many in Congress.

Waters weighed in on those claims during an appearance on “CUOMO,” noting that when Trump returns to the White House, he will only be investigated if “he does bad things.”

“What can I do to avoid having to investigate him?” she said, adding: “He is under investigation. He wasn’t charged because someone was out to get him. This is because he did ungodly things.”

Republicans who also flipped the Senate still hoping to maintain a House majority on election night, with votes still being counted in key races. Earlier in the interview, Waters praised those who “worked hard” on their campaigns, but stopped short of complimenting the president-elect.

She also compared Trump to controversial world leaders such as Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

“Donald Trump is who he is. He’s a liar,” Waters said. “He is someone who has abandoned his party in the way he treats people.”

“You used to think of the Republican Party as being extremely patriotic,” she continued. “This is a person who matches Putin and Kim Jong-un in North Korea. He doesn’t care about patriotism.”

A few weeks before Election Day, both republicans And Democrats — including officials who served during his first term — described Trump as a “fascist” and “criminal”.

Despite be convicted Indicted in New York on 34 counts of falsifying business records related to hush money payments made during his 2016 campaign, Trump flatly said the prosecution was a political attack.

“I never thought something like this could happen in America,” Trump told reporters after leaving a New York courthouse earlier this year. “This fake case was filed only to disrupt the upcoming 2024 elections and should be stopped immediately.”

He made similar comments after House impeachment proceedings against him during his first term in office.
