Dragon Age Veilguard: Heart of Corruption Walkthrough

You need to track down three sources of corruption at the Crossroads in order to clear the Pestilence from Lighthouse Island and full ‘The heart of corruption‘side quest in Dragon Age: Guardian of the Veil.

Attention – even if you receive this quest closer to the beginning Dragon Age: Guardian of the Veil“The Heart of Corruption” cannot be passed for a long time. It’s long because you need to hunt down and defeat three high-level champion bosses in Treviso and the Hossberg Wetlands, and then defeat three revenant bosses and a dragon at the Crossroads.

However, this quest is worth completing as it rewards you with an incredibly powerful rune that can be used against the game’s final boss.

How to clear the Blight from Beacon Island in Dragon Age The Veilguard

I hope you’re ready for a long adventure and tough battles, because Heart of Corruption is one of the longest and most difficult side quests in the entire game. However, the length of the quest isn’t too bad as it allows you to level up at a pace that matches the bosses.

We’ll provide much more detailed information below, but in short, here’s How to clear the Blight from Beacon Island in Dragon Age Veilguard:

  1. Defeat the Champion of Treviso and open the Gate of Deep Sorrow.
  2. Kill Felassan’s Betrayal.
  3. Defeat the first champion of Hossberg’s swamps and open the Gate of Withered Hope.
  4. Kill the Pillar Massacre.
  5. Defeat the second Hossberg Swamp Champion and open the Gate of Pale Reflections.
  6. Kill the Defender’s Fall.
  7. Use three Revenant essences on the Thrice Sealed Gate.
  8. Defeat the Dragon Revenant.

Gate of Deep Sorrow

You open the Gate of Deep Sorrow at the Crossroads by defeating Desmal, the Bloodhound, in front of Elgarnan in Treviso. Desmal is level 25, weak to fire and resistant to necrotic. Devrin and Taash can deal fire damage if you can’t.

You will gain access to Desmal’s location on the map by completing the “Gate of Deep Sorrow” quest after unlocking Treviso.

We recommend waiting until you’re at least level 20 to fight Desmal, but there’s no harm in leaving the fight until you’ve passed his level since you’ll have to defeat higher level bosses , before you can complete the side quest. Anyway.

Once you have defeated Desmal and collected his essence, return to the Gate of Deep Sorrow and use the essence to cleanse the Blight. When you’re ready, follow the path to reveal the United City, where the Felassan Betrayal boss awaits.

Felassan’s Betrayal – Level 32, weak to Nekoris and resistant to cold. Lucanis and Emmrich can deal Necrosis damage if you can’t.

Pick up Felassan’s Essence Betrayal after killing him, but don’t forget to open the nearby chest to get a unique rarity item – we got the Burden amulet while playing as the Mage.

Gate of Faded Hopes

You will open the Gate of Faded Hopes at the Crossroads by defeating the Apprentice-in-Ichor in the Hossberg Swamps. Apprentice-in-Ichor is level 30, weak to fire and resistant to necrotic. Devrin and Taash can deal fire damage if you can’t.

We noticed that we could access the Apprentice-in-Ichor’s location on the map by completing the Gate of Withered Hopes quest after entering Act 2 once we had completed The Siege of Weishaupt. main quest.

Collect the Apprentice-in-Ichor’s essence after killing him, then return to the Gate of Withered Hopes and use the essence to cleanse the Corruption. When you’re ready, enter and find the Pillar Massacre boss.

Pillar Massacre – Level 37, weak to Nekoris and resistant to cold. Lucanis and Emmrich can deal Necrosis damage if you can’t.

Pick up Felassan’s Essence Betrayal after killing him, but don’t forget to open the chest on the stairs to the left to get a unique rare item – we got the Ring of Andraste while playing as the Mage.

Gate of Pale Reflections

You will unlock Pale Reflections at the Crossroads by defeating Amarell the Unwoven in the Hossberg Swamps. Amarell the Unwoven is level 35, weak to fire and resistant to necrotic. Devrin and Taash can deal fire damage if you can’t.

As with The Apprentice in Ichor, we noticed that we have access to Amarelle Netwoven’s location on the map by completing the Gate of Withered Hopes quest after entering Act Two.

Collect the Essence of Amarell the Unwoven after you kill him, then return to the Pale Glimpses and use the Essence to cleanse the Fel. When you’re ready, enter where you’ll find the Defender’s Fall boss.

Defender’s Fall is level 42 and is vulnerable to cold and resistant to fire. Niv can deal cold damage if you can’t.

Grab the Defender’s Fall Essence after killing him and be sure to open the nearby chest to get a unique rare item – we got the Ice Façade Light Helmet while playing as a Mage.

Place the Corrupted Entities on the door.

Now you have three Revenant Essences, it’s finally time to return to the very beginning of the Crossroads, insert all three into the Corrupted Door and clear the way to the source of the corruption.

Face the Source of Corruption in Dragon Age The Veilguard

The source of corruption at the Crossroads is the Revenant Dragon, the most difficult boss we faced during The Veilguard. The Dragon Revenant is level 50, weak to fire, resistant to cold, and periodically takes your companions away from you.

This is a very difficult fight, so we strongly recommend that you wait until you are around the same level as the dragon and adapt your build to deal with it. Additionally, we recommend that you get another helping hand from a certain character by watching the Dread Wolf Regrets side quest to the very end.

We’re warning you now, it’s quite big. spoiler when it comes to Dragon Age lore. So if you’d rather find out for yourself, simply complete the side quest “Dread Wolf’s Regrets” before attempting to kill the Revenant Dragon.

If you watch the side quest “Dread Wolf Regrets” to the end, you can talk to Morrigan at the Crossroads, who will tell you that she has Mythal’s memories, but there is another fragment of Mythal stuck at the Crossroads. You have to talk to this fragment of Mythal and choose the right answers to convince her that you are worthy of receiving her essence.

don’t kill herotherwise you will not receive help in the battle with the Revenant Dragon. Instead, if you convince Mythal to give you her essence, she will swoop in in Dragon form to aid you during the fight. At the end of the game you will also have an additional opportunity to see the secret ending.
