UWS shooting: Police search for suspect in Central Park after boss shot in leg on New York’s Upper West Side

UPPER WEST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) — Police are searching for a suspect after authorities said he shot and killed his former boss on the Upper West Side on Thursday morning.

The disgruntled former employee was working remotely and was fired shortly before the shooting, around 9:30 a.m.

He ran into his former boss at Lincoln Business Machines Inc. at West 68th Street and Columbus Avenue.

The suspect fired at least half a dozen times, hitting the victim twice in the leg and shoulder.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside and is expected to survive.

The search for the suspect led to temporary subway delays in Manhattan as he fled at the 72nd Street and Central Park West subway station.

Authorities cut the power so officers could walk the tracks in case the suspect was hiding in a subway tunnel north of the station.

Some passengers had to be evacuated and A/B/C/D trains were delayed due to the investigation.

In addition, some metro passengers said that during the search they were ordered to lie down on the floor of the train. Subway service was restored shortly after 11 am.

Investigators believe the suspect may have exited the subway through the emergency exit at 76th Street and ransacked Central Park Thursday afternoon.

The suspect was last seen wearing a white hat, green jacket, blue underwear and holding a black handgun.

Filming will take place a week after two people were shot just a few blocks away during Halloween hours.

The investigation into the Thursday morning shooting remains ongoing.
