Outer Banks kills off fan-favorite character in Season 4 finale

Outer Banks, a series about treasure hunting, family secrets, island survival and more, just revealed its biggest plot twist yet.

For the first time, one of the core members of the group, known as Pogie, died during their high-stakes adventures.

Who will die in Outer Banks Season 4, Part 2?

In the final episode of Season 4, “The Blue Crown,” released on Netflix November 10, the Pogs are in Morocco trying to track down Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crane), J.J.’s real biological father, who was trying to set up a lie. Pog for murder several times during the season.

At the end of the episode, JJ and Ciara (Madison Bailey) briefly feel victorious after receiving the blue crown, one of Blackbeard’s artifacts. She is then captured and held at knifepoint by Groff, who threatens to kill Kiara unless JJ gives him the crown.

“You could have stayed with me, JJ. Think about what you could have,” Groff says.

“I already have everything and I have everything I ever wanted. Things you’ll never have,” says JJ.

JJ hands over the crown and pulls Kiara back. They hug briefly before Groff stabs JJ in the stomach.

As Kiara tries to stop the bleeding, JJ, struggling to breathe, says, “I never told you what I wanted. I have already fulfilled it. I have already fulfilled my wish.”

“Take care of the others,” he says before appearing to die. “I love you, Kie.”

In the last few minutes of the episode, John B narrates a montage of some of JJ’s best moments from the show while the rest of the Pogues mourn his body. And in the final scene, gathered around the fire, Pogie and unlikely new ally Rafe (Drew Starkey) vow revenge.

While the Pogues entered a phase of anger and grief, fans seemed stuck in denial and depression.

“They killed JJ Maybank, stop the damn show!” one person said in X.

“What if JJ momentarily lost consciousness when he was buried, and in season 5 they reveal that he was actually alive and crawled out of the grave,” another wrote. (Another fan suggested going A “supernatural” route revive the character.)
