Emil and the Sniffers rock Glasgow’s O2 Academy with piercing punk rock passion

It wasn’t my typical Wednesday night: I was thrown into a sea of punk fans shouting “go to hell!” while beer and God knows what else were thrown into the air – but I was there.

My last few shows haven’t been as loud, but Amyl and the Sniffers have proven why this certain type of genre is still necessary and very relevant today.

Supported by Atlanta rebels Upchuck, the evening got off to a passionate start as the band took out their anger on the early morning music. US elections results flow through their performance.

Lead singer KT gave a poignant speech before performing the five-member group’s hits like Freaky and Facecard.

This theme was actively supported by the headliners, entering the stage shouting “F*** Trump” and performing their first song “Doing In Me Head”.

Shaggy bleach blonde in her signature shorts hair and a light green halter top, Amy Taylor treated fans to her infamous tongue-out pose.

The Melbourne four-piece, formed in 2016, have released three studio albums to date and haven’t disappointed, honoring each and every one of them.

They performed such beloved hits as “Freaks to the Front”, “Some Mutts (Can’t Be Muzzed)” and “Security”.

Frontwoman Taylor, 28, even drank a pint of Buckfast – much to the delight of the Scots – and aptly shouted the words: “Let me into your pub, I’m not that drunk.”

The group made sure that showcase their new album with new favorites such as “Chewing Gum”, “Big Dreamsand “Tiny Bikini” before the highly anticipated performance of “Got You.”

Australian Taylor paused between hymns to introduce herself to the crowd. public holiday to the Highlands before asking, “Why is it so dark here so early?”

The 66-year-old Eighties punk icon has barely aged in 43 years.

The crowd erupted even more as the band performed their recent hit “U Does Not Be Doing That” before leaving the crowd for an encore with “Hertz.”

After waiting just three minutes, they returned to finish what they started, performing “Balaclava Lover Boogie” and “GFY (Go F*** Yourself).”

This brings me back to my original statement – not my typical Wednesday night at all, but fantastic to say the least.
