Body camera video shows woman talking about attempted sexual assault at Mid Beach lifeguard stand – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

MIAMI BEACH, FL. (WSVN) – An officer’s body camera video captured a woman telling police a horrific story of what happened at a lifeguard stand in Miami Beach.

The victim told the responding officer that she was alone on the beach when she was grabbed by the face, her nose began to bleed, and she was told not to scream.

“He just came out of nowhere and just grabbed me from behind,” she said.

The victim’s chilling account details how a relaxing night turned into an unprovoked attack on the sand in Mid Beach at 8pm on August 30.

The victim told the story as told to responding Miami Beach police officers in body camera footage obtained exclusively by 7News.

“He just kept saying, ‘It’s just sex. Be quiet, don’t say anything. It’s just sex,” the victim said.

The disturbing attack took place at a lifeguard stand near 43rd Street.

The victim said she struggled with her attacker and witnesses yelled at the gunman to stop, causing him to run away before police were called.

Detectives said the aggressor, identified as 37-year-old Randy Alexander Dawson, was eventually arrested.

The attack came a month and a half after another attack on the beach, which was much worse. 7News told the story July 16 Rape while walking on the beach on 23rd Street, where a roller skater was ambushed.

After 7News story and surveillance video on airthis helped lead to the arrest Keith Hill Jr., a registered sex offender from Illinois.on Hollywood Beach. He faces trial.

Luckily, in an unrelated crime on Aug. 30, the victim was helped by good Samaritans and fought back, too.

“You know, I bit him on the hand several times, kept trying to fight him off and kept screaming. He told me: “Stop shouting. It’s just sex,” she said. “I started screaming for help. I really struggled with that.”

The Miami Beach police officer who arrived to help showed compassion for the victim.

“Where are you from? Are you on vacation?” said the officer.

“Yes, with my daughter,” the victim said.

– With your daughter? – said the officer.

“Yes,” the victim said.

“Oh my god. I’m so sad that this happened to you, you know?” – said the officer.

“I’m just in shock, you know?” she said.

The victim received minor injuries.

Dawson was charged with battery. He remains in custody awaiting trial.
