Paul George’s honest statement about leaving Kawhi Leonard

Paul George’s honest statement about leaving Kawhi Leonard

For the first time in five seasons, Paul George dressed up for his game against the Los Angeles Clippers last night. It was a moment that George obviously never saw coming as he wanted to end his career with Kawhi Leonard.

George gave an interview Melissa Rolin of FOX Sports where he spoke very openly about his relationship with Kawhi Leonard and his desire to stay with him.

This whole time I was thinking about it – Kawhi brought me here, Kawhi was the guy who wanted me to play here, I’m stuck, I’m glued to him,” George told Rolin. “That was my mindset. That was my mentality. I wanted to survive this thing.”

Even though George left the Clippers in the 2024 offseason, he maintains his commitment to the team is long-term. His comments did not include imposing a no-trade clause or requiring the team to go over the second luxury tax.

“However, my point was that I’m here for the long haul. I’m here for a long time with you,” George said. “That’s how I looked at all the negotiations. This was the guy who wanted me here. I’m going to get through this. I am loyal to him.”

George’s return to Los Angeles was met with both booing and applause. Clipper fans appreciated everything he did for the team, but they didn’t like all the comments he later made on his podcast.
