An Ed Sheeran fan said the singer’s appearance on the Suffolk coast was a “pleasant surprise”.

Amanda Jane was walking along Southwold seafront with her friend and children when she spotted a film crew near the beach huts.

She said she realized former Framlingham schoolboy was filming but “plucked up the courage” to ask for a photo, admitting that she “almost bottled it.”

Sheeran is filming a video with Bridgerton star Claudia Jesse for a new song that will be included in Netflix movie Directed by Richard Curtis, This Christmas.

Ms Jane said: “My friend and I randomly planned a walk along the beach with our children – we were actually planning to go to Lowestoft beach but decided on Southwold.

“We spent a few minutes watching and distracting the children during lunch before we got up the courage to go up and ask for a photo.

“I heard it was filming for a song he was releasing for an animated Christmas movie – Claudia Jesse, who plays Eloise in Bridgerton, was with him.

“Polite and approachable”

Ms Jane said the star, known for hits such as Thinking Out Loud and Perfect, was more than happy to please fans gathered on set.

“We didn’t stick around after that as the kids were too focused on the food – my daughter was completely oblivious to her frozen jewellery,” she added.

“But it was a pleasant surprise, he was very polite and sociable, and enjoyed taking pictures with people passing by.

“Everyone treated him with respect and left it to him, waiting for the right time to approach. It was nice to see him stay here for filming.”
