SEPTA: Transport workers won’t go on strike as contract negotiations continue | Southeastern Pennsylvania

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia public transit riders can breathe a sigh of relief—for now.

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, or SEPTA, say employees of the city transport department in Transport Workers Union Local 234 will not strike when their contract expires at midnight on Friday, November 8th.

SEPTA services will continue to operate as normal on Friday while negotiations on a new union contract continue.

SEPTA serves five counties in the Greater Philadelphia area with its regional rail, bus, trolley, subway, and high-speed lines. It also connects to transit systems in Delaware and New Jersey.
