DOHA, November 8. /TASS/. The volume of agricultural trade between Russia and Qatar increased by almost 50% year on year in the first half of 2024, Russian Ambassador to Qatar Dmitry Dogadkin said in an interview with TASS.

“Cooperation in the field of agriculture is developing dynamically. In the first half of 2024, trade turnover in this area increased by almost 50% compared to the same period last year,” he noted.

According to the diplomat, Qatar “is of interest to Russian entrepreneurs not only as the final destination for the delivery of goods, but also as a logistics hub for exports to third countries.”

“In this context, cooperation continues on the International North-South Transport Corridor project,” he added.

At the end of September, Russian Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut announced at an extended meeting of the State Duma Committee on Agriculture that the export of Russian agricultural products in 2024 amounted to 74 million tons, which is 7% more than a year earlier. She noted that exports are growing due to the development of new markets in Africa, Asia and the Persian Gulf. In 2023, the volume of supplies of agricultural products to foreign markets amounted to $43.5 billion. In total, more than 100 million tons of food were exported.
