A group of men and women aged 70 to 100 gave the same answer when asked about their biggest regret in life – Community

The video, featuring various people, clearly highlighted the theme of regrets in life.

While you may think that your views might be set in stone in your younger years, things tend to change as you age.

What was important when you were 20 may not be as important when you knock on the door in your 50s.

With this in mind, TikTok User Yair has taken it upon himself to talk to older people to get their perspective on life and hear things they wish they knew when they were younger.

Some of the most incisive interviews were published in a thread on Twitterwhere a common theme soon began to emerge.

One 79-year-old woman spoke about the things she considered important when she was younger and expressed the belief that while money “makes life easier,” it does not “guarantee joy.”

Another man shared a similar sentiment, noting that “material goods” and “more money than you really need” are not that important.

He continued: “I think when we’re young we tend to want to make a lot of money and get a lot of material things and have a big house and a great car and all that stuff, and I realized that’s not what life is about.

“Life is yours relationshiplove and the opportunity to learn what abundance really is and what enough means.”

Another couple, as well as a 78-year-old man, agreed almost word for word, saying that “material things” are not that important.

“We live on a boat and have sold almost everything. We thought we would miss it, regret it, whatever – no, (we) are not selling,” a woman from the couple told Yair.

Her partner added: “We spent our youth trying to get bigger and bigger houses, nicer cars and all that stuff, and a lot of it is pointless now.”

When asked what was important to them, the couple answered: “Relationships, health (and) friends.”

The 78-year-old interviewee told Yair that he would have told his younger self that “the desire to have material wealth, to compete in this very artificial, empty world is a waste of time.”

“It’s unhelpful and very negative. And then (I would tell him) to look for a relationship,” he added.

The 93-year-old also expressed sadness over the loss of friends he had made throughout his life, as well as his wife.

“I go places, I do things, but I have no one to tell about it,” he said.

Viewers praised the interlocutors for sharing their thoughts, and one user X commented on the thread, noting that “listening to the advice of elders is always useful.”
