Albie Morgan: Blackpool midfielder diagnosed with type 1 diabetes

Blackpool midfielder Albie Morgan has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, the League One club said.

The 24-year-old football player learned about this after undergoing a series of tests in recent days, the club added.

Morgan, who has made eight of his 53 appearances for Blackpool this season, is currently working to “adjust to his daily life so that he can return to training in the near future.”

“It’s been a really tough few days for me and my family, but I’m happy to say that I’m now comfortable and learning to live with this news.

“My full focus now is to work harder than ever to come back strong and healthy and be able to return to training and represent the club again in the near future.”

Morgan last played in the 5-1 defeat to Peterborough on October 22.

Blackpool sit 16th in League One, having won four of their 13 games this season.
