Guardiola will ‘solve’ Manchester City’s problem

Manchester (UK) (AFP) – Pep Guardiola is confident he can turn Manchester City around after losing three games in a row for the first time since 2018.

Defeat to Brighton on Saturday will see the City manager lose four matches in a row for the first time in his trophy-laden managerial career.

The Premier League champions have been plagued by injury problems, most notably the loss of Ballon d’Or winner Rodri for the rest of the season.

Guardiola will not be able to welcome back any of his injured stars this weekend, but the Spaniard is hoping for better health after the inevitable international break.

“This is football, this happened. We know the reason why we fought,” Guardiola said at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“I’m looking forward to the game and after the international break some players will come back better and recover. Despite all the problems that we have, the little problems that every player has, we will solve them.”

All three of City’s defeats came in different competitions.

After dropping out of the League Cup to Tottenham and suffering their first Premier League defeat to Bournemouth since December, City were beaten 4-1 by Sporting Lisbon in midweek.

However, Guardiola rejected the suggestion that he could learn more about his players during their difficult careers compared to winning four straight Premier League titles.

“They have proven what they are capable of many times,” Guardiola added.

Oscar Bobb, Ruben Dias, Jack Grealish and John Stones will miss the trip to the Amex Stadium.

But Kevin De Bruyne could make his first Premier League appearance in two months, with the squad expected to include Jeremy Doku, Savinho, Manuel Akanji and Kyle Walker.
