The Government will continue to prioritize policies that empower, motivate and engage girls in Fiji.

This was highlighted by Deputy Prime Minister and Trade Minister Manoa Kamikamika at the Fiji Girl Guides Association’s centenary celebrations.

He says despite the movement’s 100-year history, there is still a lot to be done for women’s leadership and inclusion in Fiji.

“Through various programs and policies, we strive to create an environment where our girls can thrive, learn and grow into the leaders of tomorrow and perhaps become the first female Prime Ministers we provide. Management’s core values are community service, environmental stewardship and personal growth.”

Kamikamika says Fiji Girls Guides has come a long way in changing the lifestyles of women in Fiji.

Miss Hibiscus Melania Thora has also joined the movement, encouraging young girls to strive for better opportunities.

She encourages young girls to use the platform as a launching pad to dream big and strive to make a difference in the world around them, and encourage women to take on leadership and influence roles by speaking out about the issues that concern us.

More than a thousand Girl Guides from all branches gathered at Suva’s Albert Park to celebrate the final day of the association’s centenary celebrations.
