City leaders assure residents Baltimore will be ready for winter

BALTIMORE — It may have been close to 70 degrees today, but winter will come here sooner or later.

When that happens, Baltimore city leaders say they will be ready.

“Our snow team is thoroughly prepared for the coming winter, and we are ready to execute a successful program that will require more than just the plows you see on the streets,” said Corren Johnson, director of the Department of Transportation.

This program includes more than 300 people per shift, room for 15,000 tons of salt and 36,000 gallons of brine.

But Mayor Brandon Scott says half the battle is preparing the city’s snow team.

The other half is making sure the people of Baltimore are also prepared.

“I encourage all residents to act now and put together emergency kits for both their homes and their vehicles,” said Mayor Scott, “and since weather and road conditions can change quickly, consider signing up for emergency alerts and notifications that can help you.” and your loved ones will be safe during storms and inclement weather.”
