College football picks vs. spread for Week 11 games

College football picks vs. spread for Week 11 games

Ahead of another big college football weekend in Week 11, let’s lock down our final picks and spread-based predictions for the biggest games across the country.

How are we doing? College Football HQ went 3-7 against the spread this past weekend, leaving our overall record for the 2024 season at 44-46.

It was a big disappointment to say the least considering we had gone 14-6 over the previous two weeks, but we got cocky because of that success and picked some big favorites who didn’t make it.

But we made Ohio State a 3.5-point favorite over Penn State, picked Louisville over Clemson, and saw Oregon two touchdowns better than Michigan on the road.

For better or worse, here are the picks we’re making against the spread for college football’s biggest games in Week 11. Have fun, but don’t invest your mortgage in them.

BYU vs. Utah

ATS Pick: BYU -2.5 | The Utes were once the favorite to win the Big 12 Tournament in the preseason, but the Utes have lost four straight while the Cougars remain undefeated. Utah can play physical defense, but can’t really move the ball, failing to score 20 points during its losing streak.

SI chooses: BYU at 6

South Carolina vs Vanderbilt

ATS Pick: Vanderbilt +6.5 | Vandy is about 4 points better than its opponents this season, so it’s easy to predict it will shut down that line, but the Gamecocks win the game with one of the most brutal defensive lines in college football against a Dores defensive unit that succumbed to the pressure. sometimes this season.

SI chooses: South Carolina at 4

Colorado vs. Texas Tech

ATS Picks: Colorado -4.5 | Tech can put up some points, and Buffalo has the defense to allow it, but it’s hard to match Colorado’s offense against a Red Raiders defense that ranks 124th nationally in pass defense this season.

SI chooses: Colorado at 7

Washington v. Pennsylvania

ATS Pick: Washington +12.5 | Penn State’s front seven will play at home against a Washington front line that has struggled against quality pass rushers this year, but the Nittany Lions have yet to score 28 points against Big Ten opponents and the Huskies have been solid defensively.

SI chooses: Penn State at 10

Miami vs. Georgia Tech

ATS Pick: Miami -10.5 | Whatever the Hurricanes’ defense gets this team into, their offense, led by quarterback Cam Ward, can get them through. We made some money in the past by picking the Irish, who beat Tech by double digits, and Miami’s offense is much more potent.

SI chooses: Miami by 13

Purdue vs. Ohio State

ATS Pick: Purdue +37.5 | No offense to Purdue, but they are a bad football team. He has the worst batting average in college football and is winless in Big Ten games. Ohio State’s offense hasn’t been as explosive as it could be: The team has yet to score more than 38 points in a conference game, and there’s a potential for a hangover effect from last week’s emotional win over Penn State.

SI chooses: Ohio State at 28

Florida vs Texas

ATS Pick: Florida +21.5 | We may have gotten burned last week by picking so many top favorites, but Texas is averaging less than 30 points per game against Power Four opponents, and even if the Gators do have to rely on third-string quarterback Aidan Warner with DJ Lagway injured, this is an offense helped. tied with Georgia late last week, even with all the missing pieces.

SI chooses: Texas by 20

Michigan vs Indiana

SI Pick: Indiana -14.5 | Every time the Hoosiers’ offense is projected to slow down, it doesn’t. Indiana is 8-1 against the spread this season, best in the nation against the spread, while Michigan is 2-7 against the spread and ranks 116th in scoring and not throwing the ball. The Wolverines’ defense may play with heart early, but it eventually succumbs, as Oregon proved last week.

SI chooses: Indiana by 17

Georgia vs Ole Miss

ATS selection: Georgia -2.5 | It’s dangerous to pick Georgia (2-6 ATS) to cover this season while the Rebels are a more reliable 6-3 against the spread. Looking at the Rebels’ front seven and their solid offense, it’s tempting to continue to get frustrated, but the Bulldogs still have a decisive coaching advantage as Lane Kiffin’s 1-11 record against top five teams stands out.

SI chooses: Georgia at 4

Alabama vs LSU

ATS Pick: Alabama -2.5 | It’s essentially a playoff elimination game with everything on the line in one of college football’s craziest night stadiums, but LSU’s defense has proven vulnerable against mobile quarterbacks and its offense, while boasting elite quarterback play, is a bit one-dimensional in compared to the Tide, whose playoff hopes are alive this week.

SI chooses: Alabama at 3
