Louisiana artists shine among 2025 Grammy nominees

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Several Louisiana artists and groups are among the 2025 Grammy nominees announced Friday, November 8th.

This year’s awards are a mix of established names and rising talent from across the state, as well as standout names in genres such as country, roots and visual media.

Baskin native Laney Wilson is in the running for the role. Best Country Album for her hit album Vortexwhich marked yet another Grammy win for the popular country artist.

Louisiana music scene is well represented in Best Regional Roots Music Album category, almost all categories feature Louisiana artists. Among the nominees:

  • 25 Return to your roots Sean Ardoin and Creole Rock and Soul
  • Live at the 2024 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival by Big Chief Monk Boudreaux & The Golden Eagles featuring J’Wan Boudreaux
  • Live at the 2024 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival New Breed Brass Band featuring Shorty Trombone
  • Stories from the battlefield by The Rumble featuring Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr.

New Orleans’ Jon Batiste continues to receive recognition with two major nominations. Baptiste is nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media For It never went away from American Symphonyco-written with Dan Wilson and Best Musical Film For American Symphony.

Tank and The Bangas were nominated for an award Best Spoken Word Poetry Album With Heart, Mind, Soul.

Also highlighting this year’s Grammy nominations is “Cowboy Carter,” which leads with 11 nominations, making her the most nominated artist in Grammy history. Beyoncé, Post Malone, Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift are looking to expand their Grammy history by winning awards in categories where they have rarely been recognized before.

2025 Grammy Awards will be live February 2 from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
