Classes reopen in Asheville

Students in Asheville, North Carolina, return to class Monday after Tropical Storm Helen. The hurricane, which struck Sept. 27, closed Asheville City Schools for a month as the district dealt with power, water and injury shortages seen across the region. Asheville students face an uncertain road to recovery and recovery after dozens of people are still missing due to widespread communications and power outages. Read more

McDonald’s announced that Quarter Pounder burgers will return to restaurants affected by the E. coli outbreak next week during a media briefing on Sunday. The company said the burgers will return to menus without chopped onions at 900 restaurants that get chopped onions from distributor Taylor Farms’ facility in Colorado Springs, where the Food and Drug Administration continues to investigate. UN Security Council to discuss Israel’s attack on Iran

The UN Security Council is expected to meet on Monday to discuss Israel’s attack on Iran, diplomats said on Sunday. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called on the Security Council to meet over the attack, and diplomats said the council was likely to discuss the situation on Monday. The meeting came after dozens of Israeli planes carried out three waves of strikes on missile factories and other sites near Tehran and western Iran before dawn on Saturday, the Israeli military said. The strikes were in response to an Iranian missile attack on Israel on October 1.

Dodgers lead 2-0 but Ohtani is injured

If Shohei Ohtani can overcome the pain, he will play in Game 3 of the World Series for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
