Winnipeg Police: Senior shot with BB gun

Three young men have been arrested after an elderly man was shot in the head with an air pistol early Monday morning.

According to police, officers received a call around midnight to a report of a man shot in the area of ​​Hargrave Street and Portage Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found an injured man in his 70s who was taken to hospital in unstable condition but was later upgraded to stable condition. Police determined that the man was shot with an air pistol.

Police said the victim left the restaurant and was walking along Hargrave Street when he was accidentally shot and the three youths fled the area. Witnesses gave a description to the police.

Two men, ages 12 and 14, and a 13-year-old woman were eventually found and taken into custody, where they face assault and firearm charges.

Winnipeg police say the youths accidentally fired the BB gun, and there are additional victims who have not been identified. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Major Crimes Unit.
