Criminal charges are expected in a West Palm Beach motorcycle crash that killed a Miami Beach man.

Police say a criminal case has now been opened. West Palm Beach disaster it claimed the life of a Miami Beach man on Saturday.

The West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD) reported that on October 26 at 8:45 p.m., a 69-year-old Miami Beach man was walking in the southbound lanes of Australian Avenue, near Banyan Boulevard. On the road, a man was hit by a 2015 Yamaha FJ09 motorcycle moving in the same direction.

The Miami Beach man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Police are not releasing his identity until his next of kin are notified.

The police department said the motorcycle came to rest near Clearwater Drive after the collision. The driver, 27-year-old Emiliano Iregui Roldan, was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center Trauma Center. As of Saturday, WPBPD reported that Roldan remains hospitalized and is listed in serious condition.

Detectives do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash, but say criminal charges are pending as the investigation continues.
