SAVANNAH, GA — Former President Donald Trump promised to provide religious leaders with direct access to him in Oval Office whether he should be elected next week.

Trump promised in an interview at the National Faith Summit in Powder Springs, Georgia, on Monday afternoon that he would restore the Office of Faith, which he created during his first term, emphasizing the importance religion in the United States.

“What’s going on in the second term, in the office of faith, what does your administration look like?” asked moderator Paula White-Cain, founder of the National Faith Advisory Council.

“First of all, we’re going to organize this and talk to you and all the people we just met and anyone else you think is appropriate,” Trump said. “This is important, and it will be right in the Oval Office.”

White-Cain, a Pentecostal pastor, was appointed in January 2020 to oversee the Bureau of Faith during Trump’s final year as president.

According to Trump, ensuring religious freedom for all is of paramount importance.

“We have to save religion in this country. I mean, frankly, religion in this country is under threat, seriously under threat, and we can’t let that happen,” Trump said. “It’s kind of the fabric of our country. This is what unites our country. We can’t, we can’t lose this. We’re not going to lose him.”

Trump disbanded the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships after taking office in 2017. In 2021, President Joe Biden reinstated this office.
