Men killed in Halloween party shooting near Farmersville identified

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — Authorities have identified the man who was killed in a shooting at a Halloween party in Tulare County over the weekend.

Chaos and multiple gunshots woke up local neighbors on Route 166 near Farmersville around 1 a.m. Sunday.

One neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, said she heard six shots.

The gunfire woke her and her one-month-old baby.

She quickly called 911, looked outside and saw people running and a wounded man lying on the ground.

“It’s sad because I’ve never heard of anything like this happening in this area before,” the neighbor said.

Crime scene footage was still visible Monday.

That’s where police say the shooting victim, 25-year-old Angel Cruz Puga of Farmersville, died.

Tulare County Sheriff’s detectives say there was a fight involving the victim shortly before this happened.

“We discovered there was a big Halloween party going on. The victim arrived at the party and began to feel uncomfortable and decided to leave and as he was leaving that is when the incident began and that is when the murder occurred. occurred,” Tulare County Sheriff’s Lt. Brian Clower said.

The sheriff’s office said the homeowners were hosting a small party for family and friends.

Only about 40 people were supposed to attend, but more than 200 showed up.

Detectives say this isn’t the first time Halloween fun has gotten out of hand.

“We had a similar incident at a Halloween party in the Strathmore area a few years ago and it is very important that if you are having a party there on social media and it starts to get out of hand, call law enforcement before the situation is escalating,” Lt. Clower said.

Deputies are working to review the evidence.

They say the investigation is complicated by the fact that the people were dressed in costumes.
