The Resource Center recently recognized individuals with disabilities who have achieved success in community employment.

The event, held at the TRC administrative offices on Dunham Avenue in Celoron, recognized individuals who achieved a milestone year of continuous service in 2024. The celebration was part of TRC’s celebration of October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

Chief Executive Denise Jones called the honorees trailblazers and said, “We must continue to promote inclusivity in the workplace. I am pleased to see the number of people in this room who have achieved important employment successes.”

Terri Johnson, director of employment and community services, said the event was a chance to “recognize the contributions of people with disabilities to the workforce.”

People were awarded for one, five, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 years of service. Not everyone who received recognition was able to attend because some people were at work. Those who were present received certificates of honor.

The longest-serving recipient of the award was Andy Dykes, who has worked for the Fredonia Central School District for 30 years.

Some honorees had family members who attended the event and shared in the excitement as their loved ones were called to be honored. In addition, representatives of some of the Resource Center’s business partners attended the ceremony and celebrated with their employees.
