Vikings blasted by referees after Rams miss blatant facemask penalty

Minnesota Vikings It went from an unbeaten streak to a two-game losing streak. The Vikings, who suffered their first defeat of the season last Sunday against the Detroit Lions, are on the road to suffer their first defeat of the season. Los Angeles Rams. It was a tough stretch for the Brian Flores-coached defense in Minnesota; Matthew Stafford couldn’t stop Kyren Williams and Puka Nacua. But the Vikings were not completely excluded from this.

Trailing 28-20 late in the fourth quarter, the Vikings had a chance to turn things around and potentially force overtime. Quarterback Sam Darnold, who was playing relatively well, was already at a disadvantage with star left tackle Christian Darrisow ruled out due to a knee injury. Darnold elevated the football deep in his own territory, looking for an open receiver downfield in the end zone. However, the quarterback was tackled by Rams linebacker Byron Young for a safety.

However, there was controversy regarding the game. Young grabbed Darnold by the face mask and brought him down to the end zone. A clear face mask. However, the referees completely missed it and scored a 30-20 victory for Los Angeles. As if that wasn’t enough of a punch, the game can’t even be reviewed!

Even when you watch the replay, Young thought the face mask would be considered punishment. However, the referees never threw a yellow flag and he celebrated and ensured his team’s victory.

Darnold and Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell were furious, arms outstretched wondering how the field officials had missed an obvious face mask.

Either way, the Vikings can’t blame the missed call for the loss. Ultimately, Minnesota’s defense had a really hard time stopping Los Angeles’ offense. But with two losses in a row, the Vikings are feeling the pressure; especially as the rival Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears are coming off back-to-back wins in a tightly contested race for the NFC North Championship.
