Community honors two Altoona high school students killed in separate crashes

Early Sunday morning, 17-year-old Landin Treese was killed in a car crash in Altoona. Later that day, Keegan Smith Price, who had turned 16 the day before, died in a crash in Bedford County. The Altoona women’s soccer team played its first game since the incidents Tuesday night.

“Keegan, a 10th grade student, was a member of the Mountain Lion football team. Keegan exemplified a good work ethic, was respectful and had the ability to bring freedom to many situations. And Lundeen, a 12th grade student, was a member of the Lady Lions soccer team who had a love for life and the ability to make others feel welcome and loved, leaving a positive impression on those who spent time with her,” the soccer announcer said.

At the game, many fans and team members were seen wearing Triza’s jersey with a number in her honor. Her graduation banner was hung and many students and community members placed flowers and other items around it. Before the game, the women’s soccer team visited the memorial wearing T-shirts decorated in memory of Treese.

“Seeing Lundeen in passing or when we were in the same place together, it was just wonderful because she grew up to be such a beautiful and responsible girl,” Altoona School District student Lindsey Boose said.

Some community members said Tris would be proud that so many people came out to support the game.

“She smiles. She always had a big smile on her face. We will miss her. She was one of the best people you could ever imagine being in your life. Friend or family,” Amber and Aubrey said. Rickens, who lived near Treese.

The Lady Lions won 5-0 that night.
