Grizzlies athletes shine

The LV Rogers Grizzlies rocked the local BC fall high school sports scene with outstanding performances in volleyball, soccer, swimming and cross country.

The LVR Grizzlies senior girls put in an impressive performance at the Mount Sentinel tournament last weekend, beating Selkirk Storm from the Kimberley in the final to take first place.

The Grizzlies beat the Storm in the finals, 2-0, in a best-of-three match.

LVR will host a 13-team girls’ and boys’ volleyball tournament at The Den this weekend, starting on Friday and running through Saturday.

The Girls division has LVR hosting Aberdeen Hall, Elkford, Castlegar’s Stanley Humphreys, Kootenay River from Creston, Revelstoke and Fernie, while the boys division includes Kootenay River, Mount Sentinel, Salmo, Grand Forks and Elkford.

Both LVR teams will take to the court at 11 a.m. Friday. The LVR Girls will take on Stanley Humphries and the Boys challenging Grand Forks.

  • Callie Badry – Placed 2nd in the 50 Breast and 2nd in the 100 IM.
  • Sasha Eaton – took 1st place out of 100 breast, 2nd place out of 100 fly.
  • Kira Badri – 3rd place out of 50 backs, 4th place out of 50 breasts.
  • Charlotte Anderson – placed 3rd out of 50 free skate, 1st out of 50 breast, 2nd out of 100 breast.
