BIG’s One High Line is finally complete in New York’s West Chelsea neighborhood.

BIG’s One High Line is finally complete in New York’s West Chelsea neighborhood.

One High Lineluxury residential project spanning an entire city block in New York’s West Chelsea neighborhood was completed this summer after years of delays due to investor claims.

Developed Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), the 236-apartment complex consists of two sculptural travertine towers connected by a glass-enclosed, double-height lobby with a walkway. The interiors of the 36-story West Tower were designed by a New York studio Gabellini Sheppard and in the 26-story East Tower of Paris Gilles and Boissier.

The 18,000-square-foot indoor facilities include a 75-foot lap pool with cabanas, a fitness studio with private workout rooms, steam rooms and saunas, a private treatment room, a golf simulator and virtual gaming studio, and a private dining room with kitchenette .

“The sculptural form of One High Line is a direct response to the historical industrial heritage and contemporary architecture of the site. The two towers are redesigned from top to bottom to provide mutual views of the High Line waterfront and the Hudson River,” Bjarke Ingels, founder and creative director of BIG, said in a statement. “Glass and brass bridges run between the two towers, framing an intimate courtyard that serves as a natural refuge in Chelsea’s vibrant arts district. Community-oriented programs spill out from underneath the old elevated train tracks, bringing social activity to the only level manifestation of the High Line.”

Upon arrival, residents are greeted by a private porticoed entrance and a landscaped courtyard at the center of the site, designed by Enzo Enea Architects.

One High Line is curated by Alex Gartenfeld, Artistic Director Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami). The collection includes sculptures by Bree Ruice, Alma Allen and Wyatt Kahn.

One High Line will also be the future home of the Faena Hotel in New York City, where residents will have access to the Faena Members Club and 17,000-square-foot spa. The hotel will open next year.
