Sandy police are looking for a road rage suspect after concrete was thrown at a woman’s car.

Sandy police are looking for a road rage suspect after concrete was thrown at a woman’s car.

A woman reported a traffic accident in mid-October after someone threw a piece of concrete at her car on 700 East near 8100 South in Sandy.

Tammy Smallhouse said the incident began when the driver began to force her into oncoming traffic.

“For some reason, he turned around and started chasing me,” Smallhouse said.

Smallhouse said the driver weaved in and out of traffic before she was able to return to her lane. It was then that the confrontation escalated.

“A solid piece of concrete appeared to be in his passenger seat. . . he just picked it up and threw it,” Smallhouse said, noting that the concrete hit the rear passenger door of her car.

The attack shocked Smallhouse, but she was unable to get the license plate before the driver sped off.

Sandy Police Sgt. Greg Moffitt advises against chasing aggressive drivers.

“It doesn’t help, and it actually makes the situation more dangerous,” he said.

Moffitt added that identifying road rage drivers can be challenging, likening it to finding “a needle in a haystack.”

He advised witnesses to focus on gathering details safely.

“Be the best witness,” he said, urging people to remain calm.

Smallhouse said: “It’s really scary and I don’t know what the answer is because it has to be something bad enough to make people stop doing it.”

Police are still searching for the suspect, whom Smallhouse described as a man possibly in his 20s who was driving a lowered passenger car.
