Detroit Police Chief James White denies ‘special treatment’ in Jameson Williams incident

DETROITDetroit Police Chief James White said he doesn’t believe it. Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams received special treatment during a traffic stop this month where two guns were allegedly found.

– Well, we don’t know yet, right? We don’t think so. I mean, we’ve had various incidents over the years where the officers’ actions were correct, no problem. But we want to make sure that his perception and false narrative is either confirmed or debunked, and that’s what we’re looking at.”

The traffic stop involving Williams occurred on October 8th.

Williams was a passenger in the car, his lawyer said.

His lawyer also said the guns were properly registered and the driver had the appropriate credentials.

Williams was not arrested or charged.

The department is now conducting an internal review to determine whether the officers at the scene acted correctly.

That’s because the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office is currently reviewing a warrant request filed by the Detroit Police Department.

“We just received this warrant request, so we have to look at it and treat it the same way we would any other case, which is look at it and see if we can bring charges, and if we can bring charge, what charge we will charge. At this point, we just don’t know.”
