Flying Eagles beat Ghana to retain WAFU Cup title

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles retained their WAFU B U-20 title after a hard-earned 2-1 win over Ghana at the Kege Stadium in Lome.

Kparobo Ariyeri broke the deadlock for Nigeria by tucking the ball into the net from a pass on the edge of the area.

Arieri doubled Nigeria’s lead with another powerful strike late in the first half.

The Ghanaians fought back in the second half, frequently harassing the Flying Eagles defense.

Jerry Afriyie reduced the Black Satellites’ deficit with a goalmouth scramble with 14 minutes remaining.

It was Afriyie’s fifth goal of the tournament.

Both Nigeria and Ghana have qualified for the 2025 Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations, which South Africa will host in January.
