NBA fans react to Josh Giddy’s Bulls-Magic performance

The Chicago Bulls acquired Josh Giddey this summer, sending veteran guard Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Trading the now-winning talent for a rising star like Giddy made sense for Chicago, which could be poised for a rebuild.

As a player who doesn’t specialize in three-point shooting, it didn’t make sense for Giddy to play without the ball in Oklahoma City. The Bulls gave the young guard the opportunity to have the ball in his hands more and play his style.

However, the young guard came into his own on Wednesday, cashing in on each of his four 3-point attempts en route to a 102-99 victory over the Orlando Magic on their home floor at the United Center. He scored 20 points on 6-of-11 field goals, adding 11 rebounds and five assists.

With a plus-11 box score, Giddy’s positive impact on the game was felt greatly as the win likely wouldn’t have happened without his impressive third-quarter burst.

NBA fans reacted strongly to the Bulls guard’s performance in the winning game:

Via @SportsViewOz: “Could potentially be the most improved player if given the keys to the team. Such an underrated player!”

Via @braywopp: “I still miss Caruso, but my head was spinning.”

Via @freshkidrose: “Bulls Basketball is back”

Via @schofacilitator: “Perhaps he is a guy who just needs a fresh start, huge offensive potential.”

Via @ysbraH: “Bulls are funny again, we finally did it”

If Giddy can take advantage of the opportunity in Chicago to grow as a shooter, excel as a playmaker and regress offensively. On the season, he converted 10 of 17 attempts from deep. The sample size is small, but the early returns from the Caruso trade bode well for the Bulls.

The Bulls are currently 3-2 on the young season and appear to be building their identity with more youth on their roster.
