Two teams, including Western Cape Health and Wellness Government Ambulance Service paramedics and mountaineer rescuers, were transported to Lion’s Head on board the Western Cape Ambulance Service/Aerial Mercy Service (AMS) Government Health and Wellness Service (AMS) rescue helicopter. and raised down to a point next to the wounded tourist.

She was assessed and treated by paramedics before she was placed on a rescue stretcher.

The rescue climbers used a rope safety system to ensure the safety of the stretched patient and the rescue team while working on the small ledge.

The tourist was lifted from the mountainside and taken to the hospital.
